What is Amclav tablets used for?

Amclav is primarily prescribed to treat the following infections oftenly caused by sensitive bacteria:

1.Respiratory tract infections: Such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia.

2.Ear, nose, and throat infections:It includes otitis media (middle ear infection), tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.

3.Urinary tract infections:Such as cystitis (bladder infection) and pyelonephritis (kidney infection).

4.Skin and soft tissue infections: It includes cellulitis, abscesses, and wound infections.

5.Dental infections: Such as (dental abscesses).

Mechanism of Action:

Amoxicillin, the main active ingredient,works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls,preventing the growth and reproduction of sensitive bacteria.Clavulanate potassium, the beta-lactamase inhibitor, helps protect amoxicillin from being destroyed by  enzymes produced by bacteria.
