What is apixaget tablet?

Apixaget (Apixaban)
Apixaban, sold under the brand name Eliquis, is an anticoagulant medication used to avoid blood clots in individuals at risk of stroke or systemic embolism. It belongs to a class of drugs/medication called direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) or non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs). Apixaban was firstly approved by the U.S. Food and Drug         Administration (FDA) in 2012.

What is anticougulant?

A substance that is used to prevent and treat blood clots in blood vessels and the heart. Also called blood thinner.

This mechanism of action helps to reduce the risk of clot formation and future complications such as stroke or systemic embolism.

Indications: Apixaban is used for the following indications:

Reducing the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
Artral fibrillation:(a type of irregular heartbeat)
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) following hip or knee replacement surgery.
Treatment and prevention/stoping  of recurrent DVT and PE.
